forex rate forecast for the us dollar agaisnst the indian rupee from 2008 to 2010?

Public Comments

  1. the rate will be in balance between Rs. 38 to Rs.44. this is due to the stringent norms of FERA. like share trading forex rate is also limited to certain upper and lower limits known as circuits which makes the rate in balance between the said rates. also since indias BOP is getting towards favourable side. the rate is limited to rs.40 however uncertainities can forcwe the rate to be in balance between 38 & 44
  2. 20 Rs per USD by 2020. Why ? Because if you see the fast growing South East Asian economies like Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan in the 80s and early 90s, their currencies appreciated significantly. Somewhere in the ballpark of 5% to 6% annually. Assuming our economy grows as per predictions and the growth is non inflationary, our currency should also follow the paths of the former under-developed to developed economies. Why I have refrained from making a call for 2008 to 2010 so far is because this would be more like a guess work as short term anything can occur. But making a fool hardy prediction and extrapolating a 5% appreciation for the rupee each year from current levels, we should have a Rs 38 in 2008 and a Rs 34.5 in 2010.
