How much leverage are you comfortable trading in FOREX? Does anyone have any suggestions on a leverage limit? Many FOREX brokers allow up to 200:1 leverage. My trading strategy is to take just very small gains (3 or 4 pips at a time) and set the stop losses way out there just to avoid a total wipeout. I never trade on Fridays either and of course close out before the market closes. Because of the giant stop losses, I am only comfortable with around 20:1 leverage or maybe 30:1. In other words, with a $500 margin account balance, I would only consider buying 0.1 lots of EURUSD (10,000) at a time; 0.2 lots with $700; 0.3 lots with $1100 and so on... Does anyone out there use the same strategy as me and feel comfortable with higher leverage like 40:1, 50:1 or even higher?

Is it really possible to make over 100% per month in forex? well I really doubt that it's possible to gain even more than 15% per month on a constant basis...(I mean earning about 15% without braking the chain and lose lots of money...). But I wonder can you use some "strategy" such as: Bet all your money and limit to 2 pips gain? However, finding a good opportunity tends to leave at least some cash floating around. Aside from dumping it into a placeholder stock like BRK.B, moneymarket, etc. I am interested in utilizing, to some small degree, daytrading. Basically: (1) How is risk managed in security day trading? Forex trading? (2) Do the few successful traders operate by intuition or determinism? (3) How wide of a scope to most traders take? Ten stocks? One hundred? All of them? Similarly, how wide of a scope do forex'ers employ? (4) Is there a way to get a hold of raw market data, outside of the wacky software like eSignal, etc? Questions regarding Forex? hi I'm new to forex trading and I just had some technical questions for anyone who has some experience My first question is regarding margin calls, now say I'm investing a hundred dollars at 100x, what would happen if my losses were more than 100 dollars but I had another 10 000 dollars in my bank account. Could I set it up for the broker to take more money out of my account instead of losing my position? Another question I had was once again about margin calls. how much money should I leave in my account and not touch to avoid margin calls? If I'm investing with 2000 dollars and I leave 8000 extra in my account could I avoid margin calls? What currency pair on average has the least fluctuation? What is the most detailed site that's not a broker where I can get free analysis, newsfeeds, and good up to date charts? what's a good simple strategy? my plan is to start with 1500 and invest with 1000 dollars at ten times leverage and keep adding more to cut my losses every 8% the value of the currency goes down, I'll put another 1000 and when they go up I'll wait till the money is 100 pips over the average to sell. now that's a beginner strategy which probably has tons of flaws please point them out. I want to learn forex? my problem is I can't use any of these free demos online. I'm not an idiot but I can't understand them. I don't know if I'm making money or if I'm losing money. It is getting very frustrating because I want to start learning ASAP, but most the online resources are crap. I prefer taking classes, and I haven't even found 1 in all of toronto. Everytime I try to search on google all these sites come with a bunch of scam artists trying to sell their program or online classes about how to make money. I don't want to learn how to make money, I want to learn how to use the freakin platforms, I'll come up with my own strategy. Btw I'm already pretty good with stocks, it's just that the market is horrible right now, and you need a bigger initial investment in stocks to make any decent money

Which is the hottest area of "Trading" (NOT Investing) at the moment & why? In other words, which Trading segment has the highest potential pay off compared to the amount of money at risk (assuming for the sake of assumption, of course, that you are equally knowledgeable and lucky in all): Would it be Forex, Options, Futures, etc. (Please specify + a brief reason why) Also which Trading strategy do you use or recommend for that market (please briefly elaborate). Insane Returns? Impossible? Maybe? Yes? Banks offer about 5.0 percent return annually. Average Mutual Funds about 15 percent return annually. Bonds offer 4.8 percent return. Hedge Funds can yield over 30 percent return with insane risk and luck. All these numbers are wonderful, but is it that difficult or impossible to outperform all of these things, which are presumed to be nice investment tools (excluding hedge funds). Anyone heard of foreign exchange or Forex? It allows you to play with margins of 1:1 up to 400:1, meaning for everyone dollar you put in there, they are willing to back that up with 400x of that amount. Nobody who trades with 400:1 really gets that far, because of the insane downside risk. However, trading with 50:1 have got me really far. Over the past 5 months, I have made consistent gains of Approximately 8 percent a week as a position daytrader. I follow a guided strategy. Based on this, if I invest $2500 over 104 wks, I have: 2500 x 1.08^104 I will have $7,481,877. Unrealistic? Impossible? 5 months Chinese sell-off. The only week that dented my account by 5 percent. That is as much of a DD as I allow. Whenever I lose 5 percent due to fundamentals. I wait out the fundamentals before I enter the market again. Only scenario where my strategy fail is breaking news and breakouts. I don't have to trade breakouts but sometimes I do if I know how it'll go. I do plan to accept clients, but not through Y! Answers. I won't be accepting clients til 2008, since I need 1 year to prove my strategy. Anyways, based on my analysis, I make good money in an uptrend, less money in a downtrend, and tons of money in a trading range.
